A Barger Family Reunion

That’s right its that time again! Every other year we brothers and families get together to spend time catching up on our lives. It’s been a tradition for many years and this year was a busy week full of projects, food, field trips and family time. Unfortunately a few couldn’t make it this year and they were missed, but a wonderful time was had by all.

Of the many highlights of the week we had two special occasions to celebrate. Up first was the engagement announcement of great nephew Peter and Future wife Ava and with that a welcoming of a new member to our Barger clan! Ava fits right in with our gang. And then we proudly celebrated the induction of my great niece Madeleine to the University of Wisconsin (Go Badgers!) Madison’s school of medicine! Other highlights included a tour of a working dairy farm where we saw how far farming has come technology wise since I was a kid on my uncles farm. Everyone got a chance to milk a cow the old fashion way, but did you know that they have robots milking the cows? Very interesting. We also visited a small local cheese maker where we got a tour and tasting of some wonderful Alpine style cheeses made right here in Wisconsin. BTW there are tons of small cheese producers located in Wisconsin, so when you’re there spread some love. And speaking of food, we had some great meals this week with the Poke bowl buffet making it back this year, a great hit with our family. And as usual our barbecue picnic for “Friends and Family” day saw a large turn out with over 40 people enjoying the food, beverages and conversation. Another Barger tradition when we brothers are together is a project of some sort and this year’s big project was installing recessed lighting the bedrooms.

So needless to say it was a huge success and much thanks goes out to Jamie and Laurie for hosting us again at their wonderful lake house. we couldn’t ask for a better spot. Want to see some more pictures of our week? Head over here!
