Well, I’m actually not sure how rare this bird is, but they are elusive. I’ve actually only seen a few Pileated Woodpeckers since I moved here and they are normally quite shy and hard to get pictures of. This bird was very close and the attention he drew from the spectators didn’t seem to bother him.
