The holiday season is over, so I’m finally getting around to closing out the website for 2025. Barb and I had a wonderful year full of family, friends and travel to some of our favorite destinations.
So, I’ll take a minute to highlight a few updates to the site since we last posted. First, I finished up the “Wildlife for 2025” page and we had a few new species to add to my collection. Among my favorites this year would have to be the the Pileated Woodpeckers (check my earlier post with a video of this beautiful bird), the Barred Owl and the many butterflies that fluttered by. So head over to that page for about 10 new entries. And then check out the “Underwater ” page and see I added 20 more great finds to the “Blue Heron Bridge 2025” page. On that note, I’ll add a quick story of one fish that almost didn’t get added. Back in December I was solo diving at the bridge and the visibility was particularly bad, maybe about 12 inches. I wasn’t seeing much to take pictures of as you can imagine.

I stumbled on this beautiful little piece of orange cup coral and took a few pictures of it. Now my normal procedure is to take a few shots of my subject, then back away and give the subject some space and give me a few moments to review the pictures and decide whether I got the shots I want. Well this time when I backed away I almost bumped into a huge Eagle Ray feeding next to me which startled both of us. Of coarse as always the the camera wasn’t setup right for the encounter, so I didn’t get a shot of the ray and forgot to review my pictures until I got home.
Now have a look at who photo bombed my cup coral picture! Yep, a beautiful orange seahorse. Not really a great picture, but I think the story is fun.

Lastly a little bit about 2026. First off I was diving at the Blue Heron Bridge last week and the ponies were out in numbers. I spotted 6 seahorses, 2 of which were Dwarf Seahorses, a new species find for me and one that our friend Karen found was no bigger than the width of my finger. what a start to the new year! You can have look at those pictures here. Barb and I are really looking forward to a fantastic year with lots of travel including Bonaire, Hawaii, Alaska and a Canada fishing trip with my brothers. So stay tuned.
