What a wonderful spring its been so far! After a winter that gave a few more cold days than I would like, we’re into some of of our best weather of the year in my opinion. With mid 80’s most days and lower humidity, it’s just what the Chamber of Commerce ordered. This also makes it a great time to get some outdoor projects completed and do some outdoor entertaining, spending time with our friends and neighbors before many head north for the summer.
This year’s main project was to update our driveway and front walk. Its been around a lot of years and needed a new look, so I dropped a new surface on it and I think it turned out pretty well as you can see.

We kept the same theme that we used in our new patio project from last year, even got the neighborhood gang involved again to help me install the initial ( 2 yards) concrete pour to reduce the rain water swale. Barb and I thank you guys, I couldn’t have done it without you. The resurfacing took about another 150 bags of concrete that I mix one by one. I know what you’re thinking, but it gives me an opportunity to think the project through as I go along and also gives me an easy way to quit for the day. I generally poured 24 bags or 6 frames a day. If you’d like to see some more pictures of the process, head over here.
Speaking of parties, my neighbor Joe (who sometimes goes by Guido or Joey Big Shoes) and I have been planning an Italian sausage festival for quite sometime and we finally made it happen!
Make sure you check out Barb’s table design in the picture gallery, its was just like being in an Italian restaurant! You can also check out some more pictures here if you want to get the full effect. Apologies for the lack of more pictures, but I think the camera women had a few too many Limoncellos.
We’ve found that winter and spring are the best times to hike the nature trails. Many animals are just here during these months or migrating through on their way back to the north. Barb and I are huge fans of all the public hiking trails that are available to us here in Florida.
Some of the best in our area are the CREW Land and Water Trust, with their bird rookery being our favorite. During the dryer months the swamps and waterways dry up a bit and that brings the wildlife closer to the trails as you can see in this video Barb took last week at the rookery, sometimes a little closer than you’d like. Not the best video, but Barb was busy running backwards, Hahaha!

Like in my underwater photography I have a bunch of specialty equipment to help me get the shots I want, so I finally broke down and invested in another lens to help me capture some better wildlife shots. If you’re interested, here’s what I bought. It’s going to take me some time to get it right, but I’ve already been able to get some cool shots as you can see at my updated Wildlife 2025 gallery.
Well thats all I have to share, but stay close because Barb and I are on the move!
Tim
